First, I got on the Internet and did a lot of research on what kids would be best for me and how I could truly save money by using them. I quickly found out that I was not going to save any money. Those diaper covers are really cute and if I was going to make this choice we all know I would buy all of the cute ones. I couldn't have my cute baby have a big bubble butt unless it was decorated with turtle etc.
After discovering that I would have to buy every cute pattern there was I talked to my husband about it and we decided I needed to purchase some cheaper to see if I was even going to use them. So I went on e-bay and purchased some all in ones. I was thrilled when they arrived. I began using them immediately. After only a few days I became very thankful that we got these first instead of taking an expensive plunge into the really cute ones.
First of all I hate doing laundry and with three kids and a husband we generate MOUNTAINS of laundry. The diapers were just one more load I had to do. Plus they come with their own set of washing instructions. Anyone that knows me knows that I wash everything on Cold/Cold and rarely separate colors. I also have a strong gag reflex and often have to wear a mask when changing diapers. The cloth ones amplified the odor. Then in an attempt to get out the odor I added fabric softener to the wash. Big mistake! Fabric softener makes the diapers lose their absorbency. I decided that I would go back to using disposables. Oh well, at least I gave it a shot.
After choosing to go back to disposables I went to Target and found Polka Dotted diapers. YEAH!! I love Polka Dots!!!!

I want to try out cloth diapers one day when we have kids. I hope that it works. I also would like to make all my diaper things.
I think that is wonderful. If you have the gift of sewing you could make some really cute ones. I think that if you can make it work for you and your family go for it. Cloth diapering has many benefits. It was just not right for my family.
