When I was a teenager I kept an 8 year old girl for the summer. we had so much fun. I did upset her parents once by doing something that I would have never dreamed that there was anything wrong with. I took her to a laundry mat to wash some wash rags from a friends auto mechanic shop. OH NO! What was I thinking? They were so mad. I asked them to explain to me why this was such a taboo thing and I still don't get it. I guess it's only something that lower class people do? That's what they said. I don't believe it.
For years I have tried to figure this out. About a year ago my washing machine overflowed. I had piles and piles of clothes on the floor waiting to be washed. So naturally we loaded them all in the car and took them to the Laundry mat. We took our kids with us. It was so much fun and we made memories that we will never forget. While I was there I found myself thinking about why someone would think that I should not have my kids there. I came up with nothing. What do these people do if they have a King sized blanket and their washer only holds a Queen? Do they go to the dry cleaners? Maybe they just buy a new one. (waste of money)
This is something i have yet to understand. If you could shine some light on it I would appreciate it. Until then I will continue take my kids to the laundry mat and we will continue to make memories.

Maybe it wasn't so much that it was the Laundry-Mat but it's location?? I really don't know, but maybe they had more issue about the location you took their daughter to rather then it was the laundry-mat itself. We have a view mats around here and even though I have a washer machine at home, I have found the need to go to the mat every once in a while. There are some that I flat out will not go to because of the neighborhood it is in.
I love the idea of taking all my clothes to the laundry mat and getting the done all at one time ( using lots of machines at once ) But now I won't do it because I'm affraid of bed bugs.
