Lessons in Responsibility

We began using this last week. Hailey has always been into all things girly. I had hoped this would be something she would really like, and so far she Loves it! The first hands on lesson taught her how to properly peel, cut, and serve a carrot. Allowing her to use the knife was hard for my, but she’s got to learn sometime.

Supplies are set up and she’s ready to  begin.

First you wash the carrot. Even though we were peeling it, I felt it was important for her to learn about washing vegetables.

Next she cut the stems off. Remember to teach them to face the knife away from their  bodies with a slight slant.

She learned to use a peeler to peel the carrots.

This was her favorite thing, and my least favorite thing. Cutting the carrots for the tray.

Isn’t her snack tray beautiful? She was so proud, and so was I!

I love those books. We have one, and my daughter loves doing it. Guess we should get that one back out and dust it off.
