There are still so many things to be added to this ‘classroom’, but seeing as how we are starting our 2012-2013 school year, I thought I would go ahead and share our space. There are many elements to this room, and I struggled with even creating it, because I am fond of teaching at the kitchen table, but my kids begged, and gave ideas, and were excited, so I went ahead and told them I would give it a try.
Here is the view from standing on each side of the room. As you can see there are many renovations left to be done, but it still is a nice room.
The Tot/Preschool area
The little ones have a table just their size. In the bucket you will find, board books, cars, dinosaurs, and wooden train sets. The top slanted shelf is where I display items currently in use. This will eventually be covered in half chalkboard paint, and half Felt. The middle shelf is used for Trays, and current Story Books. On the white shelf at the top I have Puzzles. In the middle I currently store a GIANT bag of Mega Blocks, and trays. On the bottom is a basket of wooden Montessori materials. In the area I also have Sammy’s alphabet poster displayed.
Our Reading Area
In this area you will find a gigantic beanbag, and a book shelf full of different types on books. on top of the book shelf you will see three different baskets. One basket had Listening books, one basket has head phones, and one basket has CD Player, MP3 Players, and Book Lights. Also in the are each child has a drawer with their name on it which stores their School Tools box, Notebooks, and daily Notebook.
All of The Rest
In the first photo you will find our desk. This desk holds the kids laptops, All about Reading/Spelling cards, My files, the printer, a cd player, and whatever else I need it to hold. Next to the desk I have Christopher bulletin board which holds his progress charts, and whatever we need to be displayed for the week, and a white board used for teaching, and All About Reading/Spelling. Next to that is the key board.
The second photo is of our book shelf which holds all of the books we are using for that year, and my teachers keys, and some of my teaching manipulatives.
The third photo is of Sammy’s white board, and clipboards that we use to display work, and art for Daddy to see when he gets home from work.
The fourth photo is of the table I will attempt to do our seat work on. (remember I prefer the kitchen table)
That’s all folks.
