Last week I had the privilege of hosting a three day at camp in my home. we had a lot of fun. I had 4 year olds to 9 year olds, and that did pose a challenge, but we went with it.
Day 1
We did a small lesson on Value. (here)

Then I talked to the kids about what makes an artist an artist, and about how they are artists. Then I had them them try and guess who the greatest artist of all is “God”, and we talked about thing he created. Then we talked about how we are a reflection of his image, and a bit about reflections. After this lesson the kids made a City Scape reflection piece. They did a really great job. They were all super independent and put their own spin on it. lol. A few of the girls did not finish their pieces because when you get a group of same age girls together, they are going to want to talk.
Day 2:
This day was wild. We were supposed to meet for three days, but we had rain and horrible storms one day so I had to fit two days into one day.
For our first lesson we talked about sculptures, and what make a sculpture a sculpture. I had the kids guess what materials could be used to create a sculpture, and they did really well. Then we talked about Chuhuly and his glass sculptures. For this project, we made Chuhuly glass sculptures using punch cups.
For our next lesson we we talked about lines and how they work with landscapes. Then we talked about Van Gogh. The kids were given a landscape picture to try and recreate, they were supposed to make swirls in the sky just like Van Gogh did. Because this was the second project of the day, some of the kids got lost in the painting, and it sort of became a free for all. A few of the kids did really well though.
Pics for fun.
