Believe it or not this is one tree. A few weeks ago it was truck by lightening right down the middle. One half of the tree is living, and the other half has died. This ended up being a wonderful science lesson for the kids. They decided that the side that has dies was cut off from it’s nutrients somehow. (oldest child said this) This seemed like a great time to talk about how trees get their nutrients. I just love when nature brings such wonderful learning opportunities.
